Marranos (Part 2)

I watched her burn

under the horrid touch

fueled by the hundreds,

the thousands of evils

we lived with as neighbors

as friends who shook and roared

until the almighty and fair skinned

Devils took them into their fire.

You did the same with her

as with the women who toyed with herbs.

Kill them! Kill those who heal!

better than any man in Navarre

or any spirit in Catalunya.

She stood on the beach,

And waited with our children for the boats

To carry us home.

Just one hour, just one tribunal…

I went towards the sea, and

I watched her burn

until the fire disappears

as I became lost into the hands

of different gods.
